Earth Day is April 22, but isn’t every day Earth Day? For this month’s billable hour donation, we’ve decided to support our big green and blue ball with a contribution to Urban Green Lab.
Founded in 2009, Urban Green Lab is a Nashville-based nonprofit focused on sustainability education—for schools and classrooms, for households and for workplaces. In short, they teach communities how to live sustainably so that those people they reach can return to their classrooms, their homes and their workplaces and make better choices that protect our planet (and, by extension, the people and animals and plants that live here).
One would think in 2023 that the low-hanging fruit of sustainable living would have already been achieved—things like recycling, composting, turning off the lights when you leave a room, figuring out what can really go into that mixed recycling bin of yours. But you might be surprised to find out how many schools don’t even recycle paper.
Urban Green Lab is trying to change all of that. Check out their good work and all of their opportunities for getting involved.
