The horror stories out of Lahaina, Maui, are nothing short of devastating. An entire town leveled by a wildfire. Residents escaping into the ocean. Others not being able to escape at all. And what a perfect (and horrible) storm that came together to create such a disaster—climate change plus degenerative farming plus outdated power lines plus incompetence on the part of public officials. It’s absolutely tragic, to say the least.

For these reasons and others, the Maui Strong Fund sponsored by the Hawaii Community Foundation is the recipient of our August 2023 donation. Our contribution is a mere drop in the bucket of the estimated $5.5 billion it is expected to take to rebuild all that was lost. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to give. In addition to the Hawaii Community Foundation, there are a number of reputable organizations mobilizing to help with all facets of the recovery.
