On Tuesday, October 6, David Anthony will be back on the phones for the Nashville Bar Association’s Dial-A-Lawyer program. This time Exo Legal is going in honor of a friend.

Nashville attorney Tom Lawless died on September 19 at age 72. Tom was a fixture of Nashville’s legal community for decades. He was a creditor rights lawyer, the city judge for Oak Hill, a veteran member of the Tennessee Registry of Election Finance, and the longtime chair of the Nashville Bar Association’s Ethics and Professionalism Section. He was also a Dial-A-Lawyer regular. For years, whenever the NBA posted its list of volunteers, Tom’s name was on it every month. He spent hours on the phone answering callers’ debt collection questions.

“Tom would have laughed at the thought of anybody ‘going in his honor,’ but he would have approved of a lawyer picking up the phone for somebody who needs one,” David says. “That’s the best way I know to honor him.”
